Anyone Can Dance!
About the Rhythm & Motion Dance Program
The Rhythm & Motion Dance Program offers fun, high-energy dance-based workout classes for everyone! Rhythm & Motion was founded in 1979 by dancer and teacher Consuelo Faust on the belief that that dance should be a visible, accessible, and joyful part of a larger world. Rhythm & Motion offers classes for all, from absolute beginners to professionals. Classes are taught by experienced dancers representing a broad range of styles and disciplines. Everyone is welcome, and anyone can dance!
Rhythm & Motion Class Description
The Rhythm & Motion workout fuses dance styles and eclectic music to create an invigorating, physically challenging and fun experience. Class begins with choreography to wake up the body. This thorough warm-up is followed by high-energy routines designed to increase stamina and strength. Class continues on the floor with abdominal strengthening and leg work to improve flexibility and muscular development. Each class ends with stretching and relaxation. Rhythm & Motion is a class full of groove!
See Adult Schedule for class availability. Classes taught by Rebecca Setziol, ODC San Francisco, Rhythm & Motion dancer and teacher.
Grab a friend and come and you both dance FREE!
THE RULES OF RHYTHM & MOTION
YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE A BEGINNER
The majority of our classes (unless otherwise specified) accommodate multi-level students. It may take a while to learn routines and/or build up endurance, but we all started as beginners and we welcome you into our dance community. Don’t feel discouraged; enjoy and keep coming back. Our instructors are professionals with training and experience and can answer most of your technical, choreography, and/or body-related questions.
YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO DROP-IN ON ANY CLASS
All of our classes are ongoing and most are multi-level unless otherwise specified. The exceptions are our seasonal workshops with specific enrollment periods.
YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO WEAR WHAT MAKES YOU COMFORTABLE
We typically recommend any loose fitting, stretchy or comfortable clothes to move in. For our workouts and hip hop classes, supportive shoes (street sneakers are fine, just as long as they’re comfortable and clean) are highly recommended. Students in other classes may have different standard attire, but we have no dress codes!
YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN BODY
While our teachers are known to be inspiring and push students to new places, you have the right to always do what you need for your own body. All of our teachers are knowledgeable and sensitive to a variety of body issues, injuries, and limitations. At Rhythm & Motion you have the right to modify any movement and experience dance for your own particular body without judgment or pressure! And remember to drink lots of water!
YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR CLASSES
Bring your questions to us by phone, email, or in person, and someone knowledgeable can help guide you. Be aware that from 5 to 9pm on Mondays through Fridays, and from 11am to 2pm on Saturdays, our front desk is particularly busy, so the staff may not be available to answer extensive questions.
YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE EXUBERANT IN CLASS
Our dance community respects diversity and enthusiasm. Our teachers are known for their infectious and giving spirits. We welcome students energizing our classes with their unique energy. Feel free to let out your joyfulness.
