Santa Cruz Dance Week

Motion Pacific is but one of several dance organizations in the Santa Cruz area. Since 2008, Motion Pacific has hosted Santa Cruz Dance Week. During the last week of April, Santa Cruz dances together. A myriad of dancers and studios participate in a pop-up performance series (Dance in Unlikely Places), a kick-off public dance spectacle in downtown Santa Cruz (Dancing in the Streets), and a suite of free class offerings (Open Classes).

Santa Cruz Dance Week strives to strengthen Santa Cruz’s dance culture. Santa Cruz Dance Week seeks to promote cultural and artistic diversity and innovation, encourage artists and organizations to create partnerships and civic collaborations, and, in an effort to bring new audiences to dance, increase visibility for dance artists who engage a diverse community.

Santa Cruz Dance Week is a means for us to share our value that dance is essential for the general well-being of any community. Dance is a constructive tool for healthy expression, communication, and appreciation.

If this sounds like something in which you would like to participate, please consider applying as a studio or an individual to Dance in Unlikely Places, Dancing in the Streets, or Open Studios.
