Craig Harris (he/him)

Board of Directors
Read Craig's bio
Craig Harris grew up around the movie music industry which instilled a deep love of music - especially music for film and dance! At 19, he had his first encounter with dance, playing piano for Chuki Maté’s modern dance class in Venice California. He loved it and aspired to do more! After playing piano for the dance studio for two years, he received a full scholarship to California Institute of the Arts where he studied music and architecture. After receiving his Masters degree from Cal Arts, he played professionally in various music venues and film projects around LA for many years. He then opted to put music on the side burner, while making a career building several tech ventures in Silicon Valley. Upon retiring from industry 6 years ago, he serendipitously met one of Motion Pacific’s dancer/choreographer’s who subsequently reignited his previous aspirations and love for dance - especially writing music for dance, bringing him full-circle back into the arts! Ever since, he has been an enthusiastic supporter and participant in dance projects in the Santa Cruz area - especially at Motion Pacific!

Read Melissa's bio

Melissa is Motion Pacific’s newest board member, and one of our longest teaching staff members. She began teaching for Motion in 2005 after moving from Southern California and transferring to UCSC, with already a decade’s worth of experience choreographing and teaching ballet, tap, hip hop and jazz.

Motion became an immediate home away from home, and she has been integral in helping develop our youth program. Over the last 10 years she has grown into the Artistic Director role of Stockings; a Holiday Cabaret, our annual fundraiser event that takes place in December. After taking over Family Network Preschool in 2014 she decreased her teaching schedule, and now teaches adult Contemporary Jazz to a dedicated following, and loves bringing new folx into the fold.

Melissa’s style ranges from slow(ish) paced and moody, to fast paced and fun, to sultry and sexy, and is always technical and expressive. Class always starts with a meditative flowing warm-up and stretch, incorporating toning and conditioning, and then moves to choreography.
